Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Round 3

Round 3 of the Porsche Carrera Cup Championship at Phillip Island was a fantastic round for us. Shane Smollen joined team for the weekend as our Am for the Pro Am event.

We both chipped away in practice and came up with a happy medium in the car to make sure we were both comfortable and had a very good race car, which is what we concentrated on, even the week prior at the test this was our focus.

Qualifying and we both weren’t happy with car but knew that we had a good race car to fall back on which proved to be the case, we started Race 1 in 6th and finished in 2nd, then started 2nd and finished 4th in Race 2, with a crazy wet/dry race that had everything!

We ended up the round winner, which helps in my personal championship campaign.

Shane played a massive part in the result, he did a very good job and I couldn’t have asked for anymore from him, he fitted in the team really well, like he did 5 or 6 years ago when he raced with us at the 12 hour.

All positives to take out of the round and now have a short turnaround before heading to Darwin in a few weeks.
