Walleeee’s Sandown Wrap up
First of all the car was really good out of the truck at Sandown, it was great to have a good platform to start from.
Unfortunately we had a failure in practice 2 so we didn’t get to show our true form in that particular session, not going onto our 2nd set of tyres, which were much better then the 1st set that we ran in the previous session.
We fixed the failure heading into qualifying and the car was really good and we were on for a front row position but unfortunately on two separate occasions a couple of the Challenge competitors that didn’t see us, so we ended up with the 6th best time, but the 2nd fastest car in the session.
We managed to put our heads down in the first race and got a few spots early in the race that moved us up to 3rd.
The 2nd race they unfortunately shortened and we ended up 5th, with our tyre pressure a little lower. In the final race of the weekend we reset and went back to what we had in race one and move back up to 3rd again.
Overall a really good weekend and finished 3rd in the points for the weekend and consolidated 4th position in the championship and reduced the points the championship leader.
Two rounds to go and hopefully we can have strong round at Bathurst. We have made a few subtle changes and some little bits and pieces into the car.
Double duties again with GRM, I am looking forward to jumping back into the Volvo and getting plenty of seat time around Bathurst, which is never a bad thing!
