Fantastic start to the 2022 Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Championship at the Australian Formula 1 Grand.

David Wall ended the opening round in 2nd position, after finishing the opening race in 3rd, 2nd in Race 2, 4th in race 3 and made it back to 2nd for the final race.

It was an up and down weekend for Liam Tablot, finishing 2nd in race 1, winning race 2 but while running in P2 in race race 3 he made small contact with a tyre bundle caused the #27 to retire from the race with radiator damage.  Race 4 Liam stormed his way through the field passing 15 cars on his way to 4th overall for the weekend.

Drew Hall had a great weekend too, making up lots of positions and coming home P20 overall his highest for the weekend, plus setting new PB’s over the weekend.

David Wall said: “Great weekend, the Australian GP has always been a bit of a bogie track for me in a lot of ways so to come away with our first Carrera Cup podium here, a straight car and a huge amount of points is great. Can’t wait to get back into the rest of the season and head to Winton in a few weeks and see what we can produce. Massive thanks to everyone involved in making this possible you all know who you are and roll-on round 2.”

Liam Talbot said: “So good to be back with Wall Racing here at the Grand Prix. Bit of Déjà vu from 2019. Unfortunately I had a DNF which hurt us but in the last race came from 11th to 3rd with 2 flying laps so mega effort and can’t wait for Winton. Thanks to the team.”

Drew Hall said: “Big bucket list weekend for me being at the F1. Just such a thrill today in particular, crazy action out there but made it through and just a big thanks to the team at Wall racing,”

We now head to Winton for Round 2 May 21-22 with David Wall sitting 2nd in the championship only 4 points off the lead and Liam Talbot 4th in the Morris Finance Pro-Am Championship.
