Wall Racing reveals 2022 partners and livery ahead of Carrera Cup season opener
The 2021 Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia season was characterised by both extreme highs and lows for the experienced Wall Racing Team. This year the team will again be headlined by David Wall in the Pro class, while Liam Talbot and Drew Hall will contest the Morris Finance Pro-Am Championship.
Wall, the 2017 Carrera Cup Australia Pro Champion, has secured the support of Monochrome Asset Management for the full 2022 season along with long time partners Paynter Dixon, Brennan IT, Sculptura, Sims Metal, Local Pools and Spas, Upload Strength and Urban Maintenance Systems UMS.
“Last year was unbelievably challenging season due to the Covid related travel restrictions faced by every team, which saw us juggling logistics the whole year and at one point waiting over three weeks in neighbouring states just to get to Townsville, not to mention quarantine,” Wall recalls.
“We clean swept the first round at Bathurst and was on target for another strong showing at the following round, when we blew a tyre on the last lap while running second. This unfortunately put pay to our Championship ambitions. But we really enjoy Carrera Cup, the people, the cars and for me, the Championship is the best run category in the country.”
With new team sponsors and the arrival of the new Type 992 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car into the Carrera Cup Australia Championship this year, 2022 will be a big year for both Wall and his Sydney based team.
“Since the initial 992 (generation) handover and test session at Sydney Motorsport Park in January, the team has been hard at work testing and understanding the new car’s characteristics. We have completed successful sessions at Winton since and are looking forward to the first round. It should be an amazing spectacle seeing all the new cars on the updated Albert Park Circuit layout, I can’t wait,” Wall enthused.
“The Team is largely unchanged from last year, with my Engineer David Fyfe leading the way in the engineering department along with Dion Sims, while my Number One Mechanic, Todd
Gleeson will again lead our team of mechanics through the season.”
The initial livery design for Wall’s 2022 campaign was penned by Nick Moss Design with input from both David Fyfe and Todd Gleeson, before being brought to life by Pinnacle Signs and Graphics.
“I’m really happy with our new livery, it was a team effort and has some great features including the outlines of the tracks we will compete at this year shadowed in the black detail. I knew when my wife exclaimed at how good it looked when I showed her the design, that we had really ticked the box with this one,” Wall continued.
Wall’s #38 Monochrome livery will roll out on the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit in Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia’s first practice at 11:45am on Thursday 07 April.
Jeff Yew, Founder & CEO at Monochrome: “Monochrome is proud to continue its support for Wall Racing and their Carrera Cup campaign for 2022. With numerous motorsports fans on the team, our firm is thankful for the opportunity to be able to continue supporting local motorsports and continue forging new relationships within the industry.”
