Last Test Day before the Australian Grand Prix Carrera Cup Season Opener

Wall Racing’s Carrera Cup line-up took to Winton Raceway last week for a shakedown of the newly assembled Porsche Carrera 992s ahead of the season launch at the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix in April.

It was the first time the team has been able to thoroughly test in between the initial handover and shakedown where David Wall, Liam Talbot and Drew Hall were able to further refine and get accustomed to the cars before hitting the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit next month.

David Wall said the boys have done a phenomenal job with the car with the little bits and pieces they wanted to go through before the team went testing again.

“Feel very satisfied with where we are, all three cars ran faultlessly on the day so credit to all the boys in the shop there. Really quite speedy considering we haven’t been to Winton for a little while but to go back there and go faster than we’ve ever been by a long shot, and to have everything makes sense the way it did – just couldn’t be happier heading into the Grand Prix,” he said.

“Don’t really know where we are in relation to the others other than we’ve now got a bit of a bag of tricks that we can work with within the car, and I feel personally very comfortable in the car as do the other drivers in Liam and Drew.”

“We roll on with the livery reveal in a week or two for all three cars. We’ll get to that first round where it all semi ended for the industry that’s slowly been coming back and now will kick off at the Grand Prix.”

“It’s looking like it’s going to be a phenomenal event and one that we haven’t been able to go to for a while. There’s plenty happening in the world of motorsport there; the track’s different, Formula 1® have just had a massive turnaround in their ruling as well so there’s lots to look forward to and looking forward to welcoming all our new partners in at what will be one of the biggest if not the biggest event for the year, so roll on Round 1!”

The first round of the 2022 Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia will take place at the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne from the 7th to the 10th of April.
