Gartner to debut Lamborghini in GT Trophy Series at Sandown

Richard Gartner has stepped up from his 2007 Cup Car to a 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 600 for the 2017 GT Trophy series.

Richard ran the Cup Car in a number of GT Trophy events last year in the Challenge class and also the same car that Richard has run in the Bathurst 12 Hour for a number of consecutive years. This is also the car that won the Challenge Championship in 2015 in Australia GT Championship.

To make the step up into the Lamborghini was a big decision but one that will hopefully suit Richard well. The car will run as an outright car for the Trophy series.

The team and Richard are hopeful of big things this year. The Lamborghini is an ex Factory Peter Knox car that won the series overseas and then set dormant for a number of years and was purchased at the Monaco auction. Richard purchased the car from the gentleman that purchased the car at the auction.

The car arrived in Australia just prior to Christmas. We had a shakedown of the car at Sydney Motorsport Park and have made it our own since.

We are looking forward to a strong year in the GT Trophy Series and looking to start that off this weekend at Sandown.

Safe-T-Stop will continue to be the main sponsor of the Lamborghini, so you see the familiar yellow branding out on track.
