Wall Racing finishes on the Bathurst 6 Hour podium

Wall Racing returned to the Mountain at Easter with a highly experienced line up; John Bowe joining David Wall in the Bathurst 6 Hour.

The team entered a Mitsubishi EVO IX GSR. This is the same car that the team debuted in the 2008 Bathurst 12 Hour, scoring Pole Position and a Class win.

The team was not expecting an easy race this time round given the amount of time the EVO has spent off the track, but they are excited about getting it back on track.

“The EVO is owned by Alan East, who still works with Wall Racing. It was his idea to enter the car in the race, and of course I jumped at the chance,” said David.

“There was some great competition during the weekend, with over 50 cars entered for the event, but we were hopeful of a good result. We had not run the car since 2011, so there was a bit to do to get it ready. I have to thank Alan for the opportunity though – we all enjoyed ourselves!

“It is always a great weekend when you get to race around the best track in the country!”

The race came down right to the wire for the team, with Wall just managing to claim the final spot on the podium in the final laps of the race.

A tyre failure in the final two hours dropped Wall – and teammate John Bowe – off the lead lap and ultimately dropped them into the fight for third with the Caine / Gerry Murphy newer Evo X. Fighting against a car that was significantly quicker on the straights, Wall managed to bring their car home in an impressive third place.

The EVO ran a new livery featuring both Wilson Security and Payce, long-time supporters of both David and John.
